Snakes on a plane
« on: September 23, 2012, 06:14:12 AM »
This is my skin of a desert based 6.St.G. 2 Stuka with snakes painted down the sides. At least three aircraft from the group were painted this way in late 1941. Many profiles and models show the snakes painted red and white but this is probably artist's wishful thinking and brown and white seems much more likely to me. There is also the question of whether the snakes were painted on both sides of the aircraft, as all known photos are of the left side. I've gone with snakes on both sides. There is a photo of this aircraft here. The original aircraft was a Ju 87B but we are allowed to skin B schemes onto our D.
