Lag with wireless mouse in game?
« on: October 17, 2012, 01:02:56 PM »
I am using a wireless mouse to help unclutter my desk a bit and it works perfect except for when I am in AH. There is a noticeable lag on the mouse courser. It seems to get better the closer the mouse it to the antenna but that may just be me imagining it. Usually the mouse is less than 3ft from the antenna. Is there anything that can be done to fix it or am I stuck with lag unless I go back to a wired mouse?

Wireless input devices never work as well as wired devices will.  We have no control over that.  We can only react to what Windows will give us.

I figured as much but hoping otherwise. Thanks for the quick response.

It does.  You are just used to it.

What makes it worse is when you have a lot of other wireless devices nearby, which the computer has to decipher, which is done every single second.

I have not noticed any difference to plug in mouse, it has three speeds as well.

I only use it to click on things in game, not fly etc.

Wireless keyboards I have given up on as they always break.

It may only be milliseconds, but there is a delay.  It is inherent with the technology.

It may not be your mouse at all.  If your computer is struggling, trying to run a lot of eye candy in the game, that will cause lag from the mouse.
You could see if that's the problem by trying the game with a wired mouse.

I plug my pc straight into wireless router, if I did not there would be lag?

There is always going to some latency with anything via a wireless connection versus a wired connection.  It is inherent in the technology.  That will never change, unless physics is wrong.
