NY Area let your voice be heard for FDNY

New Helmet or pay 100.00 to keep old one.

I can see both sides of this argument, safety for the FDNY personnel and the Fire Fighters wanting to keep them as a keepsake, many still have them fro 9/11.

What are your thoughts on this matter.

(Firefighters on the force more than 20 years have to pay only $50, and 30-year veterans can keep their helmets free of charge.)

Make exceptions for those that are 20-30 year Vets but those that are below 20 years don't deserve a decrease in the amount or any special treatment for the services they have provided.

I understand the need for new equipment every 10 years but why not Inspect/Safety the ones they wish to keep why pay 100$ when they can easily repair/fix any that need it.
