Film Folder Location
« on: November 07, 2012, 05:15:15 PM »
I haven't be able to find this directly addressed but I'd like to confirm that the films folder has to remain within the HTC/AH folder.  I'm using a new SSD and would prefer to offload these folders that collect alot of files over time to my HDD.  Obviously I can simply get in the habit of periodically transferring the films but it would be better if I could change the default storage location to the HDD as I have done with my Windows libraries. Thaniks.

I've been getting the too many films warning for a year...I better do something about that.  Has any one moved their films?  What SSD did you get?  I'm looking at the

OCZ VTX3-25SAT3-120G Vertex 3 Solid State Drive - 120GB, 2.5", SATA III
Item#: O261-6380  |  Model#: VTX3-25SAT3-120G

Ideas? And how to set it up?  Aces High computer only

Thanks Flifast

Too many films in the default film folder creates problems.  There's no problem moving the films themselves, just drag into a separate folder outside of the default film folder.  I've moved my Windows Libraries folders to my HDD and just drag the films to a folder in My Videos, however, all of my films are still automatically stored in the default film folder under AH and that folder cannot apparently be moved out of the AH folder.

I've got the new Corsair Neutron 240GB/SATA III SSD.  Works great.  The SSD is plenty big enough to have my system and all of my programs on it and I have a 1TB HDD for data and backup.  Do the full Windows install on the SSD and then when that's done move the libraries (My Music, My Documents, My Videos, My Pictures and Downloads) over to the SSD.  This isn't quite as simple as it sounds, i.e., you can't just drag and drop them there as the library folders are unique.  If you right click on them and select properties you'll see these folders have a "Locations" tab that other folders don't have.  You use this tab to move the folder to where you want it.  I strongly suggest though that you first do some research on the Windows website and Google.  The whole process can be a bit problem prone and it's worth looking into problems people have with this first. I did it but it took me several tries to get it to work right.  Also, google "SSD configuration for Windows 7" and you'll be able to find lots of recommendations for optimizing a system using an SSD.
