Bomber tracers
« on: November 27, 2012, 08:09:50 AM »
I wish the machine gun tracers were dipicted acurately, just as the fighters are. That generic, pulsing stream, that seems to have no origin, seems more like a rain storm than bullets. Why shouldn't I know as an attacking pilot how close the bullets coming at me actually are? Shouldn't I see if the gunner has lead figured out or not? Shouldn't I be able to correct course and change angle of attack when required? I think so.

If all the guns are too big a frame rate hit to animate, how about an acurate stream of tracers, originating from the gun position that the gunner is in?

thank you.

You often would not be able to do so due to lag. Which means both bomber as well as your fighter are at different positions on your enemies FE. Bullets that seem to be quite off on your screen will be a hit on your enemies one. My films quite often show enemy tracer streams "miss" me, yed I get hit and go down. It's the nature of the beast and thus a depiction as accurate as you are looking for is not really possible.

Only looking for somthing as acurate as the fighter vs fighter tracers. yes those are affected by the phenomina you describe, but I'm very happy with them, and they would be huge improvement over the bomber tracers.  :salute

I wish the bomber tracers depicted accurately too - I want the bloody tracers OFF on all the drones as well as my main plane when I select that option so that the fools that think you can climb up the tail of a B-17 really get what is coming to them....
