hit sprites
« on: November 30, 2012, 12:36:21 AM »
Have no understanding of this but is it possible that I can shoot and see hit sprites on a plane on my screen and not actually be hitting it because of lag?? Having periods were I am lighting planes up with hit sprites and they are taking no damage, other days they go down??

I have similar occurrences, but rarely. Yesterday I hit an A20 from underneath 200 off. Saw a cluster of hit sprites at the wing root with 4 x 20mm from a Tiffy. Probably a 1/2 second burst but saw no appreciable damage. Later I got an assist on him so I obviously hit him

If you see a hit sprite, you hit the target.  Depending on the connection to the remote player, it may take a bit to register on his screen, which can cause it to take that time to register on yours, also depending on your connection as well.

The server tracks hits, so the damage is being done, unless your Internet connection is so bad it is dropping those packets.
