No one in a tank fears an M-8. It is better to use it to prevent a  M-3 or a jeep from delivering troops and/or field supplies.  As a scout, it has been replaced by the storch. It is a fun ride with all that speed, but it is not my first choice to fight other tanks. The M-18 has a bigger gun and is better suited for ambushing passer byes or getting to a tank battle quick.

Good luck

.
I bagged twelve Panzer IV Hs in one sortie in the M8 once.  Panzer IVs are easy though.  One shot to the back of the turret kills the turret and then two shots to the back of the hull kills the Panzer.

I've killed Panzer IV's, T-34's, M4's, and even Panthers with the M8 before. Its not completely hopeless, you just a lot of skill, and even more luck. That said, I don't take the M8 out except for when I'm just dicking around, trying to see what shenanigans I can perform.... such as trolling the hell out of inept Panther drivers.

However, I will say its cannon makes about the most effective ad-hoc AA gun in the game. Flat trajectory, high rate of fire, and the element of suprise!

i guess i prefer the t-34 for that role, i used to be pretty good at it back in the day, almost secured a town with 2 others with just me for air defense... they never seemed to learn

I wish people would use the wish list forum to post their brilliant ideas, and be smart enough to not post all their stupid ones.

But I am under no disillusions of my wish ever being fulfilled.

Correction:

I did some offline testing of the M8 vs. the T34/85. The T34 (76 or 85) has 3 one shot kill zones for most non-perk tanks. However, for the M8 these zones are much higher. For Kill Zone 1, at 400 out, it takes 11I watched the video, it only takes 7 direct hits. On the 4th hit the engine goes, on the 11th7th you get the kill. Now don't get to excited, there is a catch. You must be at an angle between 70 and 90 degrees & as i stated at a distance of 400 (good luck getting 5 shots off before the T34 spins its turret and puts you in the tower.

Clarification...
I killed a t34/85 with 2 shots from an M8... barrel was almost touching him(screen shots to come).

An M8 is a great Vbase and Port deacker, especially if you have a hill overlooking the base! :D

M8 is good fun in a large GV battle. I wish it had a higher eny though...doesn't seem fair to be same as early panzer, Sherman, and t34. Yes it is fast but you need to press the barrel on enemy tanks to kill them and you have no chance of killing tigers, panthers(I put 5 rounds in side of one from 100ft),t85(very hard to do).

You can kill Panthers fairly easily if you're lucky enough to find yourself in a good possition. The hard part is maneuvering into possition for a shot when hes aware of you.
