« on: November 28, 2012, 10:29:02 PM »
saw this posted on another forum.  RAF Museum Me-410 running up both engines in 1988.  Interesting whistle to those engines :)

Oil pump? Or is it the result of some aerodynamic design of the propellors?

Nice!! Seen the pics so I've thought a vid must be there somewhere. Hopefully similar videos surface about the Ki-100 and the Fw-190S-8.

I've understood that it's the supercharger impeller.

No, WMaker is right. Its the supercharger making that sound. Watch any Bf-109 video with the DB in it, and it will be making the same sound. BTW it is a very beautiful sound.....

Wonder where that 410 is now and if she still runs...

It's in RAF Museum at Cosford. It hasn't been run since AFAIK.

Why did they cut the tips? Was it typical, or something the British did to it?

They were most probably damaged at one point (bent).

Lot of the "conservation work" done by the museums in those days could be considered destruction of priceless artifacts in today's standards. Things have changed.
