I will think of more achievements in time. But I am quite excited that achievements are in AH Beta.
It has been said before, please make sure the achievements broaden the gameplay (like 3 secs in air while in jeep), random stuff like that. Some fun, others serious (like landing 10+kills in one sortie).  But overall I think it will broaden a few players ways of playing the game, because they WANT that achievement. Others, they will like the "pro challenges" of 10+kills in one sortie, or if possible. Landing 2+ kills in an Undamaged plane.

Definitely a great addition to Aces High. Well Done.

Respectively,

Tinkles

Just because a PC game has achievements or other forms of recognition for doing something in game doesn't mean the game is catering to the console crowd.  Achievements have been part of PC gaming long before they showed up in console games.  Most MMOs have some sort of achievement system, like EQ did when it launched 14 years ago.

:rofl :rofl

wow.....this will broaden my game play......I want that achievement  :rofl :rofl

this may turn out to be one of HTC best additions  :aok

Sounds like something for the new folks to me.

Glad we can just choose to ignore it and go about fighting other folks.

A GREAT example of this is Battlefield 2. That game had quite possibly the most grueling achievements known to a video game EVER. Took FOREVER to gain ranks and the higher ranks required achievements that took plenty of time to complete in order to progress to the next rank. I wish more games followed that type of achievement system, it kept me playing BF2 for a LONG time trying to better myself. Sadly they dumbed it all down for BF3.

To stay on topic, looking forward to achievements going live out of beta, the 1 kill in every plane achievement will be quite interesting.

I like the achievement system. Thanks HTC for implementing something of a to-do system in game. :x :salute

Maybe it can be used to better implement other in-game systems. Also can it be used as a means of discouraging certain types of game-play (possibly via a name in lights type system or a website list for player achievements list?

Besiege a base : Kill 5 supply convoys inbound to a airbase.
Break the lines : Repair 15/45 structures at a airbase/town.
Strat-o-bomber : Destroy 5% of a country's start target.
Behind enemy lines : Kill a enemy country HQ.
Party player : Join a mission.
Party planner : Plan/Host a mission.
Chauffeur under fire : Deliver 10 troops for a successful base capture
A friend in need : Deliver 20 vehicle supplies to country vehicles.
Wingman : Earn 3 assists, on kills credited to a single player.
Join the band-wagon : Earn a kill/assist on which 2 or more players also landed an assist.
Hauler : Land a undamaged airplane with bombs/drop tanks still attached.
Party pooper : Kill 6 vehicles in rapid succession while in a bomber/attacker.  :lol
Sniper fire : Kill 5 aircraft while in a vehicle.
Down periscope: Kill a ship with a torpedo.  :lol
Milk-run : Capture a base with no enemy within 10k yards?
Cluck cluck cluck : Land with 0 kills after having an enemy in icon range while in a fighter.
Wham-bam : Loose all 3 bombers in formation within 2mins of killing a carrier.

Just a few off the top of my head. :D

Same thing with bustr last night - how fast do you want look like another ( :old: ) fool without any cheese?  :devil

-Every game has an achievement system now, you want AH to isolate itself as it ages?  (xbox was by far not the first, although it was central to their launch... what, 10-years ago?)
-Like you're not going to find enjoyment out of this?  If so, ignore it, it's as easy to ignore as the stall horn and, likely after its beta, just as muteable.
-Think of something crazy that you and only 10-20 other players in this game can do, submit it - do it - proceed to laugh and mock on 200 the thousands you watch in the MAs try and fail at it.  (still not your cup of tea?... really?)
