This film, OTOH, shows "bad" attack form on buffs.  I got lucky, but this type of attack will wind up killing you far more often...  I was sloppy...  Had I bumped into the wrong bomber gunner, I'd have been killed very quickly.

Ok, that was helpful. Thanks for posting.  I can see two problems with my approach.  One, I am not giving the bombers enough lead during my dive, and thus I end up behind them.  The second problem is that I am just such a lousy shot.

Thank you, and thanks to everyone else who answered.  This was helpful.

My problem is using too much ammo per pass. I just get too excited to see such a large target.

Thinking I may die any minute , and lose my chance , I start firing too early , and stop firing too late.

Very rarely do I get all 3 of a formation. I am lucky to get one if I am alone , maybe 1 and an assist if I have friends around.

I don't always get all three either.  Sometimes, it's better to call it a sortie if you are not getting quality shots on target.

What is especially frustrating when stalking a set and taking the time to get into proper position, is to watch some 190 just slowly wade through the tail gun stream and get all three.  And then bail out from a one-winged smoking hulk. :bhead

To every man upon this earth, death cometh soon or late.
And how can man die better, than facing fearful odds.
For the ashes of his fathers and the temples of his Gods."

What mntman said.

I've just watched his films. I have to say that I kill bomber with the same approach.

If you find 999000, DaveyJ and farlite flying B17s and they kill you in 2 seconds, don't blame yourself or your skills. They are among the best gunners.

I used the information in this thread and it really helped me on bombers.
