Bomber Guns
« on: December 25, 2012, 09:43:33 AM »
:airplane: After running some tests in TA, looks like the bomber guns converge about 650 to 700 yards...could this be moved out to at least 850 yards...some of the new a/c, (410) and others are peppering the bombers from a 1,000 yards.. we need to rethink the converge point of the bombers to equal out the fight advantage.

Sure, long as you can only man one gun at a time, and not ALL the guns that can converge on one point. Buffs have enough advantage.

Bombers and their drones firing convergence is set fine. HTC knows what they set it at.

Patience and tactics are key.. you're bomber's strengths versus the attacker's strengths. Plan accordingly.

Yes please, set them to converge at 850, or better at 1000. I'll feel a lot safer when I dive in with my 20mm or 0.5s. At my optimal firing range the drones will not shoot anywhere near me :)

I do believe the convergence for bombers is set at 500 yards.  While in your bombers you have a baddie tracking you from 800-1000 away dont be afraid show a little love by firing only the turret you are in.  That way you're not wasting ammo.

It takes lots of practice to know where to lead and when to fire/not fire.

Even with just 1 turret, you can hold off an attacker for quite a long time. IIRC my record is keeping 3 fighters hung up at around 1000 yds, and one kill in b-26's.
You started this thread and it was obviously about your want and desire in spite of your use of 'we' and Google.

:airplane: What game are you playing? I get shot at all the time from 1.0K back by 110's and 410's and to shoot at them at that range is sorta like using a shotgun, because of the crossing bullet streams, its just luck if you hit something!

One tactic I use if nothing else works.. instead of trying to stay ahead of them, I'll either climb or chop throttle, or otherwise reel 'em in some way so I can shoot them down.

:airplane:  You make a good point and I do this all the time! Maybe that is why I usually get all three aircraft home after a mission, I try to save ammo as much as possible!
