I can honestly say this isn't a genre I listen  a lot if any at all. About the only ones I've listened to and could enjoy was Bathory (and now Agolloch, thanks Motherland).

Bathory - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OyYnstGB3rM

and here is a nice little gem on the subject http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o-nTrB0gkGk  :P

I have to say that I liked Bathory a bit more than Lich King. Back in the 80's/90's when the whole black metal/progressive metal was getting started it was definitely a lot different. However we all need our foundation to get going. Still it's good music and i'd rather take that over the mainstream horse crap on the radio these days.

They call it "common sense", then why is it so uncommon?

I'm on a huge Epica kick lately.  I've never liked any music with the "death metal growls".  But I've made an exception for this band.  They are just awesome.  Oh and the lead singer is pretty hot, and she can sing well enough to win a talent show on Fox imo.

If you like that, then click the related links for full videos.  That video has the best audio though.

Here's another live performance, worse audio quality but includes the whole song:

Boildown

This is the Captain.  We have a lil' problem with our entry sequence so we may experience some slight turbulence and then... explode.

Boildown is Twitching: http://www.twitch.tv/boildown

Do progressive black people even play metal?

Just sayin'.
... missions were to be met by the commitment of alerted swarms of fighters, composed of Me 109's and Fw 190's, that were strategically based to protect industrial installations. The inferior capabilities of these fighters against the Mosquitoes made this a hopeless and uneconomical effort. 1.JD KTB

If that was a joke, then it was kinda funny.

But if not, then I have no idea why you said that.

That's pretty good. It sounds more like a symphony metal type of band though. I found another good metal band with a female vocalist. Not really black metal but its good.

I'll settle for that.

I'm not personally into the whole "evil noodle of satan" thing  :devil, but form a metal music point of view, there are some interesting things going on.

Oh, forgot one oldie from Dimmu: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LqAkH583oCQ

Unfortunately audio quality isn't the best on these older youtube vids, but the music video is one of the most awesome metal vids ever.
