Like Bustr mentioned and what I have mentioned, the college/universities in this country have their own rules.

If you are that afraid of getting jumped at a college campus there is something seriously wrong with that thought, sorry if it is offensive.  A college/university is supposed to give a sense of security while going for higher learning.  Remember that everyone going to college for the most part, is going for the same reasons.  To earn a degree for a higher better paying job.  If someone attacks someone, they risk getting kicked out of college, that assault goes on their record, and they are unable to get into another school for the most part as that record will follow them.  No one will benefit from that.  Some schools may give a couple strikes before kicking someone out but depending on the severity of the fight, can count double.  Now if it occurs off campus, that is a different story.  While the college rules are directly applied to you on campus, they do follow those that live off campus as well.  I know first hand because our players on the football team that decided to live off campus still had to register their house with the school because the school is still directly responsible for your well being if you are attending their institution.  Could be living 2 miles away from the school but the school will still be contacted if anything were to happen to you.  If there is a party at the house and someone is injured, the local police may be the first to respond but campus police/security will still be notified and probably will show up if they have their own cars which also means the administration will also be notified at your institution.

In short though, there is no need to carry any sort of personal defense on a campus.  Everyone there for the most part is there for the same reason and wont risk their future on something petty like a fight out in the open for everyone to see.  It isnt high school anymore.  There is also the gym, get big and you can most likely fend for yourself if anything happens unless you choose to fight the starting linebacker on the football team.

By the way, Ill mention Im at New York Medical College now and its located on more than just a college campus.  This medical school only has 2 main academic teaching buildings by the way.  The campus besides the college, Westchester Medical Center which is a major trauma hospital, the fire academy, the police academy, a juvenile detention center right behind the school which is 20 yards from the basketball court, the Westchester department of correction prison, country jail, and a halfway house.  Know what kind of security they provide for the medical students?  All we get is rent a cop security.  Half the security are out of shape old fat white guys who I would fear have a heart attack first if they ever had to do anything in terms of protecting us.  Seeing a prison on the campus wasnt exactly heart warming when I first arrived.  Not everyone going to the hospital is also sane, there are some real psychopaths that enter hospitals and the one here doesnt have a police officer at it 24/7 either.  I dont walk the streets around the school cautiously either or worry that Im going get stabbed by someone.  If I cant feel safe going to a school where I will spend majority of time, why go there.  If someone really wanted to go on a shooting rampage at my school, they would kill at least half the student population before he/she was stopped as most of the classes are taught in auditorium setting and only have 1-2 exit paths.  Even with all this, I still dont carry a weapon.  I see no need.  If something is going to happen, its going to happen.  Unless you are carrying a gun, there is nothing going stop a shooter.

College campuses are not isolated from the rest of the world.  Show me one campus in the US that is surrounded by barbed wire fences with manned access control points.  Any argument suggesting that campuses are limited to students and staff is ignoring the fact that they're 100% open to anyone that feels like wandering on.  Campus police simply do not have the resources to challenge everyone that may be on the property.

Also, repeat after me: "I am not qualified to assess the self defense needs of other people."  Repeat as necessary.

Every college age male can make a bong out of whatever happens to be nearby.

I don't see the difficulty in applying the same level of creativity in fashioning a weapon.

If that is beyond the original poster's ability, then expect to fail at life.

Seeing as the OP doesn't seem to want to post the schools name I'm thinking he posted the thread basically to show off his new knife, as well as looking for a bit of validation for him to carry it at school to be the cool kid.

Personally I think he knows it would be against the school rules but was looking for a way around it. Just another kid who thinks "he knows it all" like we all did at his age. Time well show him how wrong he is.... as we all learned.

Rules are rules, there are consequences if caught not following them. The choice is ultimately his. McDonalds hires people who were kicked out of school   :D
