Keep it military style
« on: January 13, 2013, 01:31:39 AM »
You could so easily accomplish the achievement incentive by awarding military style commendations. It would still have a lot of appeal and would be much cooler and badazz.

Why the silliness? Keep it cool and historical. Lets not be Mario bros here.

I'd bet that more than half the people flying/playing couldn't care less about the military/historic parts of the game. To them it's just use this tool to accomplish this event. Much like a battle ax works good against a slug-worm.

There is nothing wrong with adding a little "fun" to the game. I know people use to spend hours looking over, around and through new plane to find what little "easter eggs" HTC had hidden in them. Flying over a volcano was made more fun by finding beer, pizza, or sea monsters in them.

It is a game whats wrong with adding "fun" to it?

But for the people who do care about the historical aspect, it would be much preferable and for those who don't, why would they prefer to earn the Rainbow Farting Unicorn award than the Iron Cross award or Distinguished Flying medal?

I don't pay attention to the Achievements....

but I would think a mix of Military realistic Achievements IE 352 kills in a 109....  and silly ones///like getting 3 seconds of air in a jeep.....is the best route.....

I almost took up a jeep to get three seconds of air.... :rofl

but then I realized I would not be flying a fighter and not able to kill the red guy...so I rolled my KI :D

I don't care about them either, but I was running troops as a back up. Once the town was captured I did start hitting the hills as hard as I could just to see if I COULD get it.  :devil

Isn't it somehow demeaning to the genuine award to issue virtual versions for playing a game?

I believe that it was stated somewhere that this was a beta and that it would eventually change.

I think they tossed in a bunch of silliness just to test how well the system works.

+1

I like the idea having it tied to Military-type awards - and maybe even add ranks based on the game points system.

Got the Hiroyoshi Nishizawa award last night, and it was particularly gratifying for fairly obvious reasons.  I for one vote yes on keeping it historical and military.

Well, I think it's OK. Were playing make believe so let's say we honor the real life heroes. If its that big a deal we can call it the Virtual Iron Cross or something.

Really no big deal. If we are that concerned about it we shouldn't have correct skins and insignia and shouldn't allow squad names other than the "fuzzy bunnies" or something

I like the idea of a mix of both silly and historic achievements.  Everybody gets something that way.

I suppose that's fair. Keep the silly ones like airborne jeeps and give cool military style names to the more serious ones.

I believe achievements and awards would best be kept separate.
