CH products profile use
« on: December 31, 2012, 03:02:48 PM »
Hi, I am completely LOST!
I used to play AH some years ago but gave up for a while to concentrate on my artwork. In those days I used a CH products rig but it was all analog. I sold all that gear when I gave up and have recently bought the usb version of the fighterstick and the pro throttle. ( I also have a TIR3). so I set up the CH control manager software and started trying to map the keys etc.. I figured that downloading a profile would be the best bet and so I did and managed to get it loaded into the manager and can understand the download to the hardware (a bit like speedkeys?) but nothing then works in AH. pressing any control I get no reaction.
I think(!) I finally figured out that this new software (to me) separates the key mapping from the Control manager (CM) software. ie: you set up a generic name of a function in the CM and then in a separate text file map the function name to the actual key. yes? and somehow you have to make this all work together and have it recognised by AH??? I did get the dummies guide to the scripting ( http://www.ch-hangar.com/files/Docs/Dummies_Guide_III.pdf ) but my poor 60 yr old brain has given up about now... it CANT be this hard... I suspect theres something simple Im just not understanding here... Can anyone help with some specific instructions. Please dont send me to CH Hanger as Ive been there and I cant even get recognised to post a thread there and am lost in all the detail!!

Hope someone can give me a simple guide (download this, press this button, start AH, configure AH... fly) to get back into the sim!!!

Thanks in advance.. I hope!  PS Im right handed and my PC is currently on windows 8.

The programming of keys in Aces High is very easy, and the way most people go. I have all CH stuff and also started with analog and have long since switched to USB.

In the game on-line or off, goto "map controllers. hit the switch on the controller you want to program and it will high light it on the list. Click the modify button and using the menu select which function you want the key to work, and click ok. Do all switches this way then click the apply/ok botton on the notebook and your good to go.

The CH manager....most don't even install the software here... is mostly if you want multi functions/macros.

I could send you my in game .jsm files but it would be the lay out I use which may not be anything close to what you would like to use.

Thanks, tried that and can set up the X and Y axis but theres no buttons/keys to set up there...
It just says CH Control Manager Device 1... not CH Fighterstick with all the keys etc...
so Im still lost as to where to set up the keys for all the buttons without using the CM

I suspect im still missing that 'vital' simple piece of knowledge?

I'm wondering if the CH software causes that. Mine list each of the controllers by name "CH Fighterstick, CH ProPedals", and so on. You might want to uninstall the CH manager and the CH controls. Plug the controls back in and let them install (they should install with out issue, mine did when I built a new computer and added Win7). Once they are installed restart the game and see if it recognizes them as what they are.
