When the 2nd amendment was transcribed, the us army had mussel loaders, and so did the citizens.  Fast forward to now.  The army has tanks, machine guns, drones, etc.  I say the 2nd amendment says we as citizens should be able to buy the same.  The second amendment isn't there so we can shoot rabbits.

But, but.. according to President Obama, Nancy Pelosi, Eric Holder, Andrew Cuomo, Michael Bloomberg etc, the 2nd amendment was written to protect the rights of hunters and sportsman.  To quote Governor Cuomo from yesterday "Nobody needs more then ten rounds to kill a deer."  and he's right.  *end sarcasm*

I laughed when I heard Cuomo boast about owning a Remington Shotgun... then say we should ban "assault" rifles  :bhead   I'll take the bet that more 12ga. shotguns are used in gun crimes then anything in .223 or 7.62x39

EDIT: and then I typed a big eloquent rant, with FBI stats to back it up and everything, and then I deleted it so I won't get banned.  Instead I'll just link a video of an eloquent woman and mass shooting victim testifying before Jim Brady and congress in 1994 the last time we went through this.  Video   : EDIT

The truth is that EVERYONE is overreacting here.  Your child is many time more likely to be struck by lightning and killed, than to be gunned down at school.

They call it "common sense", then why is it so uncommon?

"Who are the militia? Are they not ourselves? Is it feared, then, that we shall turn our arms each man gainst his own bosom. Congress have no power to disarm the militia. Their swords, and every other terrible implement of the soldier, are the birthright of an American...[T]he unlimited power of the sword is not in the hands of either the federal or state governments, but, where I trust in God it will ever remain, in the hands of the people.
---Tenche Coxe, The Pennsylvania Gazette, Feb. 20, 1788.

DEFINITION OF A VETERAN
A Veteran - whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve - is someone who, at one point in their life, wrote a check made payable to "The United States of America", for an amount of "up to and including my life."

Actually, it may make it convenient for criminals to know which houses do have pistols, if they're in the mood to steal some.

Just because a home has a weapon in it doesn't mean it's going to be able to deter theft.

This just makes it easier for criminals to "shop" for pistols.  All they need to do is case the house for a few days and they'll be able to pattern the people who own the house allowing them to break in and search fro weapons while they know that-

A- it's an empty house.
B- there's a likely "reward" for diligently searching likely places where firearms may be kept.
C- it may be well worth the effort to bring a tool or two to specifically help defeat a gun safe.
D- if someone comes home they can be ready for them, and almost definitely catch them off guard and in the vast majority of cases unarmed.  It may even be rewarding for them to hold someone at gunpoint and demand a firearm or ten.  After all, they know the weapons are present.

After all, locked doors (including those on safes) are really just there to keep the honest, honest.

Are most homes robbed while people are home?  Or while they're away?

The media has once again shown how irresponsible, unbalanced, and unconcerned with facts they really are.  I'm shocked that anyone would be shocked.

If my home is broken into, because the crook figured it was better to breakinto a home that didn't have a gun, because I'm not listed in the newspapers report, can I now sue and hold that paper responsible for identifing my home as not containing a weapon.

Ms. Hasson just found out that while the 1st Amendment is protected, exercising it does have consequences.  Her actions highlight the biggest thing about free speech and life in general...  Every action has a consequence.  Unfortunately, Ms. Hasson has unwittingly exposed hundreds of thousands of households to potential harm by her action in revealing who has a gun and who does not.  She willfully exercised her right to a free press and unwittingly provided criminals with a goto address to find firearms as well as a long list of homes that do not have the ability to stop an armed intruder.

While I am no attorney, I seriously believe that Ms. Hasson's actions have at the least, exposed the paper to some serious legal ramifications should it be proved that the paper's publishing of the gun owner lists allowed someone to act and harm another in these areas.  Worse yet for Ms. Hasson, she has also exposed her own family to retribution for her actions.  That is not right or just, but people are not always rational as Ms. Hasson's actions have already highlighted.

Yep, exercising free speech and the free press have consequences.
I regret doing business with TD Computer Systems.

Talking about amendments, politicians are all in violation of rule #14.
