Limited Resource Management
« on: January 14, 2013, 02:00:52 PM »
  • ability to determine the # of a particular active aircraft/vehicles that is available at a field OR country. If one is destroyed/shot down, it simply re-appears as available for the next pilot in the tower. If none left and they're all up flying, they show as disabled in aircraft selection menu.
  • use the field admin menu to adminster the # of aircraft/vehicle/watercraft available at a particular location/country. We don't just enable it with a check box, there is another box to enter # of active

Getting fancy...
- ability to determine respawn time for a particular aircraft/vehicles that is available - either based on the games strategy system if the # of active for an airfield are destroyed. Similiar to that of CV's.
OR
- respawn time for limited resources are tied to a country's infrastructure - similiar to how fuel can be limited. I.e. if you have 100 P-51D enabled, and factories are at 80%, only 80 active P-51D's are available.

For AvA, special events, and scenarios only, or for MA as well?

I had a similar wish way back when (can't remember the thread name to post a link...)

Basically the plan was for the maximum number of available machines within the three main categories (bomber, fighter, vehicle) to be limited based on the field type/size. E.G., there could be a maximum of 60 fighters available at a large airfield, but only a max of 12 available at a small airfield. The fields are automatically resupplied at a rate proportional to the health of three factories (you guessed it - bomber, fighter, vehicle).
As an example, if a fighter took off from a small airfield, then there would be 11 out of 12 more fighters left available for use. If that same fighter successfully returned or a fighter from another field landed at that particular base, then the amount of available fighters would be back to a full compliment of 12 out of 12. Doesn't matter if 50 fighters were to land at this field at once; 12 is the maximum number of fighters that could be used at a time.
As a result, simply ferrying planes from the rear airfields to a front line base would be a great asset to your country. This could inadvertently be done by taking off from the rear, attacking the enemy in any form, and then surviving to land at a front line base if possible.

I fear I don't see this as an option in the MA, though. This would only work if everyone had the same win the war focus to compete as a team without everyone pulling the strings in different directions. All it would take is a couple of noobs to up and crash repeatedly to leave a field devoid of machines. A lot of people just want to spend their limited time by getting as much action as possible without being restricted too much. Could be viable for non-MA events and arenas where all players are squad/mission oriented, but I agree it would be more effective at the grand, overall scale of the MA. Don't get me wrong; I like the idea and I'd be one of the guys to support it, but I'd imagine it would fracture the community by impeding other styles of game play.

It could be enabled for all arena's. And when you think about it, it kind of works the same way the strat limits the higher performance planes now, except this one is based soley on # of aircraft available per airfield OR country.

It is VERY similiar except I want to specify which plane has limited numbers.

Yeah, understand that perspective... but it would definately work for the SEA and AvA and perhaps even a strategy MA...? Thoughts?

NO thanx...I dont care about the "war" I just want to fight/kill red guys...in the plane I want to fly.....

if this is the type of game-play you want....look up WW2 online......

thankfully HTC said he will never limit the players choice as to what they can fly.
