Dropping a lot of packets stateside
« on: January 21, 2013, 03:55:22 PM »
Packet loss is hovering around 30%, and it seems the problem is in your neck of the woods.

Anyone else having problems?

Looking at the graph I'd guess hop 12 is stateside and hop 18 is Texas.

Hope #10 is running around itself and another router (router flap).  It can cause a lot of packet loss issues.  Probably a temporary problem, but you might as your ISP about it.  They could be doing some router and/or switch maintenance.

Hop #3 is showing the same thing, so I have sent in a trouble ticket to AT&T.

There is also a problem between Cogent and AT&T at their gateway on the trip to the servers.

By the way, any time you see packet loss at the last, or next to the last hop, it is always packet loss on the return trip.
