What mechinism triggers DarBar? (was NOE darbar)

No.  At 100 feet AGL, you will show on dot dar.  It requires maximum 65 ft AGL to not show up on dot dar.

At 100 feet you will not show up on bardar.  As an aside, you never see your own bardar displayed on your map.

JUst last night I had a squaddie talking about dar in an area. I did not see it.

Dar/bardar occasionally has some oddities.

I haven't seen it for a while, but I can remember nights within the last year or so where the arena had a buttload of people in it.  Squaddies that were a sector over were seeing dots on dar that I wasn't, and squaddies that had been in the air for a long time didn't show up on dar at all until I got within visibility range of them.

There seem to be some pretty arcane factors that influence how often your system updates dar and what it updates.

the entire thing is for gameplay alone.. to promote combat.

otherwise everyone would just hide from each other or not be able to find each other to have combat.. which would be unfortunate in a multiplayer game.
