Strafing shpping in AH
« on: January 23, 2013, 05:58:30 PM »
I regulary see pilots strafing and heavy damaging  ships that should withstand the punishment of less calibre fire.

This should be short of impossible and should Imo, be changed. I agree that killing them small guns should be OK but that's it.

My ammo last for 6 Lancasters, or one Yak3.

I dont think its the hard guns that are going down but the smaller  guns like 20mms and 40mm, strafing a cruiser with a LA does yeild alot of explosions tho.

I believe the hard gun mounts are armored, I've had 75mm shells bounce off the cruiser's main guns.  In fact, I don't think I've ever knocked out one of the main guns with a 75mm though I kill every other gun on the ships with just a couple of 75mm rounds.

Cruisers had light weight armor plating. Carriers had almost no armor in the flight deck. Compare them to a battleship, which was meant to absorb a crap-ton of hits, and they're really pathetic. So, theoretically for what we have, it's quite possible. Especially with the B-25H. That 75mm was intended for use against ships when they put it in!

P.S. I do seem to recall talk about the turrets being hardened, so that sounds about right. Don't think you can strafe them down. Need an explosion to take them out.
