Tuning Radio to a Local Base
« on: January 27, 2013, 09:31:37 AM »
I haven't searched to see if this was once a wishlist item, but what about adding a feature where you could type a friendly base name into once of the radio channels to get localized text and/or conversation, if it was in the voice channel?

Now we have the 'Room' channel, which may not be useful if you're a few sectors away and people are typing on another base's 'Room' channel, but if you could manually type in the base, you could get localized conversations.

If memory serves, your text room channel is based on the base you took off from. Vox channel is always localized.

That said, it is a great idea!

Why not just have a ranged text channel, which includes the folks in the tower?   :pray

Similiar in concept, but if you can pick the base, you won't have to worry about two bases close to each other and which chat you're reading.

It would be a great step up from what we have though.
