Aces High app
« on: January 28, 2013, 09:12:38 AM »
This may have been requested before, I don't have time to search atm. A lot of the time I can't get to my pc with AH loaded on it. It would be awesome to have a mobile app to watch .ahf files.

the game is concentrated on combat, not on shaking the screen.

well the answer would be no.  let's not argue the point that the app would be to big for most phones and it would be limited to tablets but the same reason why you cant view films and play the game at the same time.  to avoid people reviewing a film of a spawn camp and find out where the camper is, or find out where that m3 is hiding in which barn.

besides you dont need an app to view aces high films.  just upload them to youtube.  you already have an app for that.

LOL  talk about people eager to rain on others parade...

I'm not talking about a film viewer as we currently have for the pc, I'm talking about an app just for viewing. I'm not computer savvy and don't pretend to be so Midway you may be right about the file size. As far as uploading to youtube I have a question, if I download a .ahf file from the bbs to my phone can I then upload it to youtube for viewing without any type of conversion?
Oh, and I wasn't trying to impose on any one's time. Just thought it might be a good idea for those of us at work to view .ahf's posted on the bbs. I would do it myself if I had the abilities to.

Just a wishlist item, if it can't be done it's all good.

wont the film have to be converted to something that a tablet app would play?

I'd expect that IF they were to develop a film viewer, they would code it to be able to read their own format.

I don't necessarily support the idea for the film viewer app. It has it's possibilities, but I think that the cost would outweigh the reward. It would be nice though if the film converter in the film editor didn't crash my computer every time I tried to use it.

I think that an Aces High app could be a nice little tool. Instead of a film viewer, the app would have things like vehicle armor charts, aircraft speed charts, list an air crafts particular strength and weakness, tell you how long a bombed building would be down for, etc. Things that are already in the game but are simple enough to push a little app out. After all some of us don't know all the dynamics of the game, and we don't really have the time to memorize all of it either. I am one of these people, I also don't have a smart phone but that's beside the point...

HTC could even use it to make a little extra money... I was thinking they could charge $14.95 for it...

I just accessed this same info using my tablet on tha main page.  Some of the squads also have that info on their website and don't forget about the wiki.

Hell. Yes.

More people would use it than the WWI arena  :bolt:

I'll bet it's possible to make an App that will display the arena selection screen or display a roster command.
