(Image removed from quote.)

Absolutely unreal.  The two asian women were doing their job, delivering newspapers, and had been asked by the community to do it with their lights off in order to keep from waking people up, and they complied with the request.  The LAPD officers saw this as "potentially hostile" and just lit them up.  How on earth can you make a decision to fire on two civilians and not be charged with anything under these circumstances.  While doing PSD work my company used to get threat info and intel on vehicles thought to be being used by hostile forces, but if I had ever decided to just mow down a vehicle based on a match with this without first not only seeing a weapon pointed at me, but actually being engaged, I would have been in all kinds of legal crap, and that's in two countries where we were shot at on a daily, and sometimes hourly basis every time we drove out of our compound.

I just can't believe this, and that fact that it has happened not once, but TWICE shows me the LAPD is both a: very scared right now, and b: has hired and trained several very incompetent and dangerous officers.  I understand the fear part, any soldier or security person who has been detailed to some sort of duty that involves being targeted directly knows that sick feeling of wondering if today is the actual day, but come ON, this is ridiculous.  Look at that truck!  I've shot at vehicles with belt fed weapons and left less damage than that, what could they possibly have been thinking emptying their sidearms like that?  And look at that group of shots in the tailgate, did they think somebody was hiding in the box of the truck?  There are dozens of shots through the back windows, it's amazing both those women weren't killed with the number of shots fired at them at that range.

I agree, but we have NONE of the details as to why the LAPD opened fire.  I cant imagine the PD just rolling up and opening fire when the suspect is alone, BIG, not an Asian female, etc.  I'd be willing to bet the PD officers called in the plates to see if the truck was stolen and who the owner was.  Something does not add up for them to "just open fire" .  However... if it was a case of an itchy trigger finger then someone had better get some extra training and a reprimand if need be.  Did I see correctly that neither woman was hurt???  If so... what a God send!

For **anyone** to condone what this POS is doing needs to take a serious look at what they are saying.  Evidently, there are some supporters out there backing this guy up (word is the suspect is a "liberal" and hence the anti-right crowd standing behind him) and making excuses of the alleged "racism" he went through as a PD officer and that he was pushed over the edge.  Total BS.

I agree with all of that SL.  No matter what happened though, the cops involved made a huge mistake, even if their dispatch said "that's the vehicle in question" regarding the x-LAPD fugitive, they still had no right to open fire without first identifying their targets.  Both women WERE hit, one of them several times, but they will survive.  Both of them also say they were shot while still seated inside the vehicle, which looks like a fairly believable statement considering the bullet holes.  Shooting at targets that haven't been identified is a major failure IMO.  Those windows look tinted, and this happened at night, how an earth could the cops even see if the targets were armed, much less who they were.  Like I said, ridiculous, considering the cops so far have gotten a pass and "it was an accident" stamp from their department.

I agree with you that we don't know the whole story of this incident, but I ask what possible excuse could the officers have here to defend themselves with, when they had the wrong vehicle type, color, and occupants.  So far from matching the description of their "target" that they are of opposite sex.  Insane.

It happened to two separate trucks. The other one, a black Honda, had just been cleared by one police unit and sent on its way when it was rammed and shot at by another unit(Torrance PD). The driver wasn't hit but received injuries from the collision.

Absolutely ridiculous.

However... if it was a case of an itchy trigger finger then someone had better get some extra training and a reprimand if need be.

:rofl   A reprimand and extra training! You are a real piece of work.

Those dangerous idiots should be sacked and locked up in my opinion. Or at the very least demoted and never allowed to use a gun in the line of duty again.

Total BS.

A classic example of someone who believes everything he is fed by the media.

The fact that they are shooting to kill without warning is more than suspicious, almost seems that they want to silence him before he has a chance to speak. He should get that chance, before they convict him and sentence him to whatever.....

I imagine this won't get as far as sentencing,  I doubt he'll even see the back of a cop car or ambulance, let alone a courtroom

Reading a bit more, neighboring vehicles and houses have been riddled with bullet holes in the area of the first shooting as well.  One lady had both of her vehicles hit by 6 shots or more, an Acura MDX and a Ford Focus, as well as her garage door and home.  So much for "target and beyond".  Another neighbor counted over 60 shots fired.  SIXTY shots with no target identified.

A third neighbor said the following :  "While out surveying the damage, he counted five bullets in his entryway, a bullet hole in his garage door, two bullets hits his silver Lexus and another bullet grazed the hood of his Oldsmobile. "

The more I'm reading about this the worse it's looking for the officers involved.  They are SO lucky they didn't kill the two innocent occupants, much less any bystanders or random people in their homes.  To skate without any punishment is unbelievable.  I really believe the xLAPD guy and his manifesto are a separate issue, I don't condone this nut's actions in any way, but to use him as an excuse for this type of behavior from the LAPD is unfathomable.

Take your political bias blinders off for a second and stop trying to find reasons to condemn people.  I, a liberal who moves in liberal circles generally, have not heard a single peep of support from anybody for this guy.  That is insane.

At this point I'm thinking having Dorner patrolling the streets with an assault rifle would be safer than the majority of LAPD officers as of late  :aok

http://www.latimes.com/news/local/la-me-torrance-shooting-20130210,0,3955268.story

"David Perdue was on his way to sneak in some surfing before work Thursday morning when police flagged him down. They asked who he was and where he was headed, then sent him on his way.

Seconds later, Perdue's attorney said, a Torrance police cruiser slammed into his pickup and officers opened fire; none of the bullets struck Perdue."

You may not like liberals, but that doesn't mean that everyone you don't like is a liberal or that every position you dislike is a liberal position.

The trouble with that statement Gemini is it isn't just the cops who supposedly wronged him he's going after, it's their children and family.  Do you think a hero would target the daughter of somebody he's angry at, killing her and her uninvolved fiance?  What kind of hero deliberately targets innocent women and children of somebody he has a beef with.  "I never got to have a family, so I'm terminating yours".  That's his statement.  Some hero.  I don't defend the LAPD's stupidity in shooting up the civilians in the 2 cases so far, far from it, and IMO they are just making things worse and giving this nutjob an undeserved "folk hero" reputation.

If this guy had limited his target selection to those who supposedly wronged him, I could almost understand how people could support him...almost.   But come ON, killing somebody's daughter because he fired you from your job?  Nice hero.

Actions speak louder than words, and he hasn't murdered any children thus far. I agree that would be a disgusting way to pursue his vendetta.

On the other hand, could easily have been some children in one of the multiple trucks that have been indiscriminately riddled with bullets by police officers...it's pure luck that no innocent citizens have actually lost their lives so far in this manhunt.

Whole situation is sickening :uhoh The only good thing is the LAPD are doing more to expose themselves as, at the very least irresponsible, if not corrupt, than the shooter could have done on his own.

So the 28 year old basketball coach and her fiance that he shot and killed don't count?  What kind of hero shoots somebody just because they are related to somebody who they are angry at over being dismissed from a job?  Even if this nut was wrongfully fired, what right does that give him to shoot ANYONE, much less 2 people that had absolutely nothing to do with it.  I agree that the LAPD has turned this into a PR nightmare due to their incompetence in the 2 shootings near the police Capt's home they were protecting, but that doesn't somehow excuse this guy's behavior before that happened.   It's one thing to accidentally hit a civilian in a shootout, it happens all the time, look at New York recently, and that in of itself is certainly a terrible and preventable thing,  but to deliberately target the children and family of other cops this clown is angry at, as per his manifesto, and the first 2 family members he's already killed....ridiculous.

You can't make an omelette without breaking a few eggs

I guess we just have different definitions of what is meant by 'American hero'. Servicemen have come back from  tours in places like Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan having gunned down innocent non-combatants, but they were doing their part to save the world from terrorism or communism, and neither you or I can take away the fact that they are American heroes

Sometimes you've got to do evil things to defeat evil, any true American should recognise that
