Great photos, Piha Beach is about 10 miles from where I grew up, spent a lot of summers at that beach.

Great pics!

One of those was of a B-24 over Ploesti, Romania. I knew an old man who fly a B-24 in that raid, "Utah Man." He tells his story then notes that one of the B-24s landed with corn stalks wedged in the bomb bay doors. They had flown that low!

would have been nice if they got the second pic on a good surf day..

the pic of the jet at flight deck level reminds me of a photo a mates old man took when we had a family day on the boat... the Navy and Airforce put on a show for all the family members. At the end of all the fun and games (dragging) a target fore the skyhawks (yeah yeah ... we had museum pieces for aircraft...but at least we had freakin planes for our boys back then 1991) they did a fly by... My mates old man had a good quality camera and took a pic as the plane flew past wings level with the flight deck.....gone by in the blink of an eye but the photo was amazing...got it dead centre and the pilot is head facing everybody hand up waving...still remember it like it was just the other day...wish I had a copy of it...just an awesome photo..... had to be there I spose  :D

Great read and pics.

This reminded me of this account of a low and slow flypast in a plane absolutely not designed for this: the SR71: here  :uhoh  :rock

Trees in Aces High usually aren't as forgiving.

Nor the shrubbery.
