F4F and P40E fighters of the Cactus Airforce must scramble and sweep the fighters off the incoming transports so that they may be destroyed before unloading their deadly cargo of soldiers. Japanese A6M2 fighters must keep their protective umbrella over their ships, as their comrades below depend on them.

Pushing BackOperation Citadel was aimed at eliminating the Red Army at Kursk. The town itself was of minor significance; it was chosen because it was situated in a bulge between the fronts of Field Marshal Erich von Manstein's Army Group South and Field Marshal Hans Gunther von Kluge's Army Group Center.
The German attack began on July 5 and moved steadily for four days before stiff resistance stopped it. The Russians counterattacked and began to reverse the German gains. Suddenly, Hitler called off Citadel to divert troops to meet the Allied forces that had just landed in Sicily.

The StraffersIf the Allied Island hopping campaign is to be successful, there are many Japanese bases and installations that will have to be eliminated on the way. This Snapshot simulates an attack on Rabaul, where B25C and P38G aircraft will attack a Japanese port facility. The Japanese will have A6M3 and Ki61 fighters to defend their base.
