New triple monitor setup.. how to solve screen tearing?
« on: June 01, 2013, 02:16:37 PM »
I just bought a triple monitor setup and I am trying to get used to it. One thing I notice is I get some screen tearing on one of my monitors. I am using an XFX HD6950 with 2 monitors on DVI and the third on an active mini DP to DVI adapter. All three monitors are the same make/model and brand new. I am getting the tearing on the monitor with the miniDP-DVI adapter. The tearing is not that bad in landscape mode but If I rotate to portrait it is horrible. I am wondering if a better quality adapter is needed or is there another fix out there?

DP adapter: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=93496&CatId=467

CCC version 13.4 Driver version 12.104-130328a-157485-ATI

I also notice the screen tearing doesn't happen right away, it will begin after a few minutes of flying.

that's not a good adapter...i recommend this list - http://support.amd.com/us/eyefinity/Pages/eyefinity-dongles.aspx

do those monitors have dvi-d (dual link) dvi port? if so you want this adapter...  http://www.accellcables.com/B087B-003J.html

if not, then you want this one - http://www.accellcables.com/B087B-006B.html
