Very sad news

One of my first sorties in this game years and years ago,  was as a gunner in CptDells Buffs.....I subsequently got us killed shooting like a 2day noob.....Dell just laughed it off, and let me tag along the next sortie  :aok

We will miss you sir....thanks       :salute

I remember when I first up with him to help pork a field.  I died a horribly fiery death with not a single shot fired.  He tells me, "Don't worry about it Valron.  It'll happen.  I'm going to be hitting another base, so get another plane and be ready.  We've got work to do.".

Those were fun times.  The 2nd time around, I took a Typhoon and actually managed to kill an ord, before implanting into it's destroyed husk.  He just laughed.  I couldn't help but laugh either. :lol

I remember when I started flying in AH, CPTDell was the one who noticed my incredible skill (or lack there of rather). After a bomber run where I was smashing mailboxes, Dell congratulated me on my 750 damage points and asked if I wanted to be in the squad. I graciously accepted as no one in the game had ever been so nice to me. He had a talent for inspiring confidence in those who needed it.

While I never had the honor to meet him in person as some of the other squad members did, I am honored to have flown with him as well as to have known him. I wish now that he remain the CO of wing in the CLAIM JUMPERS squad as a reminder that while he is gone, he is not and never will be forgotten.

He was a good pilot, a good teacher, and a damn good squaddie.

RIP Dell, you will be missed.

I am truly saddened by the loss of CPTDell earlier in the week.  CPTDell was one of the founding members of the Claim Jumpers since October 2008.  Kenny Dell died in his sleep after battling health issues over the past year.  It's my pleasure to have gamed along side of him and hunted the fields of Kansas at Unclkurts farm with other squad mates.  His intoxicating laugh and his unique game play was legendary.  <Salute> Captain Kenny Dell U.S. Army 7th Cav. <S>

While in Loose Deuce I flew around Cpt Dell on many occassions. He had a unique voice, always enthusiastic and loved to fight to take bases. I loved flying around him because when Cpt Dell was involved you always had great bait!! He and his crew loved it, I loved scratch the bad guys off of them.

I remember when he was in the hospital, maybe a year ago. It is sobering. We all have our real life to live though for whatever reason we spend much of it here. I'm sure for all of us this game is not only fun but where we take a break from the challenges of real life, I know I do. It is my stress relief. We are joined together flying cartoons, cutting BS and having fun, with the occassional meltdown.

I didn't know Kenny, but enjoyed Cpt Dell and I'm sad for his loss.

I've added the memorial flight to my calendar and if work allows will be there!!
