Radar

I wish local radar (towers) would remain operative when HQ was down. Still lose darbars but local towers remain until destroyed.

Then there would be no point in killing the HQ...

a  large group of bombers could still build up  then attack a base . by the time they enter the base radar it would be to late the fly from that base to get up to the 20K to reach the bombers .  you also would not be able to tell if it's the main thrust of the attack or a diversionary attack while the main force hits along the other part of your front . I think it would add extra strategic value to destroying the HQ .

Actually, there used to be 4 tiers of damage to the HQ.  Now, it is all or none.  I'd like to see the hardness of the HQ upped, and then get the tiered damage system back in place.

The towers still work, they just can't transmit their information to your plane via the HQ C&C.

I like this
Tier 1: Dar Bars are reduced as well as random dar bars
Tier 2: Dar Bars dissapear
Tier 3: 2 minute delay on Red dots
Tier 4: total lose of radar

Ever notice the bottom right window when you shift and right click on a field?  It shows 4 levels for HQ damage:

Enemy Counter (DAR BAR)
Enemy Radar (enemy dots inside radar ring)
Friendly Country (DAR BAR)
Friendly Radar (allied dots on map)

I'll assume the bottom tier is represents the least amount of damage (friendly radar), and the top is the most amount of damage (no enemy DAR-BAR).

With the hardness settings where it is currently at, only the B29's have a remote chance at getting the HQ in 1 pass.  The Lancs can do it in 2 passes using the 14/1k bombs (salvo 7 w/ .05 delay each pass).  Otherwise, it take multiple bombers and that is fine considering the scope.  However, it would be nice to take the B17's, B24's, Ju88's, etc, to the HQ and make a dent in the enemy's radar capability.  This all or none stuff gets a bit frustrating.

What's the point in "killing" HQ now? It's got no operational or strategic
impact beyond "blinding" one of the three countries in the game.
You lift a fighter, go to where you know there's good fights happening
anyway, and by the time you're done with the sortie, dar's back up
and you can "see" again.
And please, don't tell me that grand strategies are implemented
with HQ down or that it ties up a large percentage of pilots who
might otherwise be piloting fighters while it gets resupplied.
It serves only as yet another chest-thumping "Look at me, I
killed the blah blah!" on country text item.

Darbar is a much more important strategic tool than local towers. I think the local towers with actual dots is kinda gamey for an aircraft in flight anyway. Just seems to me, if you can kill the local tower locally, then bombing HQ shouldn't take out local radar.
