Damn your black soul, Silent Hunter III
« on: March 13, 2013, 07:16:12 PM »
Recent thread here reminded me I had the CD, not loaded on 'puter.

 :bhead

Should never have read the thread.

Sleepless, ill-nourished and rapidly getting out of shape, but dammit, that Truppentransporter is *mine*.
... missions were to be met by the commitment of alerted swarms of fighters, composed of Me 109's and Fw 190's, that were strategically based to protect industrial installations. The inferior capabilities of these fighters against the Mosquitoes made this a hopeless and uneconomical effort. 1.JD KTB

LoL... Still on my 15th patrol, late May 1941. U-65... Type IX, I never found Hood or any other major players in the Bismark sinking as the weather and distances kept me out of position. Down to two stern fish, patrolling western approaches.

good hunting!
There must also be a flyable computer available for Nefarious to do FSO. So he doesn't keep talking about it for eight and a half hours on Friday night!

I'm rocking the third patrol in Silent Hunter 1. Yes, you read that right: the pixelated war in the Pacific edition. I lost my SHIII CD, can't play SHIV too well with my old computer, so... the classic SH1 it is! The gameplay is still pretty damn captivating despite the quaint graphics (which are immersive in their own right).

I have good memories of SH1.

Finally got that damned ship, did what I should have done in the first place, went far enough to one side not to e seen, ran a good way ahead of the convoy, sat and waited.

The dreaded magnetic pistol even worked.

SHII was good too. No Campaign like SHIII but still fun none the less.

Ahh those youtube videos bring back memories. I'd pay 1000 bucks for any game that would give me the thrill those first C64 games gave me when I was a kid. I can still remember the gut feeling on some of the titles - as well as remember some games that I absolutely hated for their weird feel and color scheme. Forbidden forest was one such game.
