I enjoyed reading his movie reviews and I agreed with him more than 50% of the time...

I'm sorry to hear of his death. Although I never saw the value of his work.
However Hollywood did and that is why he had a successful career.
Personally I can figure out on my own if I like or dislike a movie and the reasons why.

Sad news, end of an era there... but I'm a little happy too...  You just know that now Siskel and him are munching popcorn and flicking thumbs somewhere in a movie theatre together again.  :pray

Personally I can figure out on my own if I like or dislike a movie and the reasons why.

I found I respected his decisions, and if he gave a thumbs down to a movie, I wouldn't normally waste any money to see it.  If I did see it, I of course could form my own opinion, but it normally was the same as Eberts.   He reviews saved me a chunk of cash over the years avoiding crappy movies.
