Was out of action for about 2 months after my house was burglarized for the second time in 8 months. Have set up a ton of security measures since. Also was hitting the gym about 4 times a week until my knee started acting up. While away I thought long and hard about my skills or lack thereof. So I've come back with a bit of a different attitude. I've been going straight at the enemy mostly in an f6. It's been a blast. These days I'm insulted if you make me climb above 5k. Ironically most of my kills are still the p51 even though I'm in a slow plane. Go figure.
Yep, I've been picked and ganged. But Dr7 says if you ain't dying you ain't having fun. Well I must be having a ton of fun.
Probably not so surprising is the lack of skills most folks have at low altitude. If they can't pick or gang they are in serious trouble. Most times when I get killed I'm on the 6 of the bad guy. Which btw boy is my aiming bad in the f6. Surely that will improve.
My most disappointment (and I don't know why) has been when I'm trying to save a base against a horde and fail.
Perhaps one of my coolest sorties, and I died, was chasing an La7. He ran to some buds after I pinged him some. A 110 tried to H.O. me and well, somewhat succeeded. I got oiled. But I fought on. I went after a p51 while an f4u was trying to pick. I almost had the p51 but was hanging out to dry. As I tried to gain E by diving the f4 pinged me pretty good which caused me to surge left, which caused the pony I had been chasing now on my tail to collide with me. Chain reaction I guess! Then the La I had pinged managed to get himself killed. Finally the F4U finished my damaged plane. It was great fun though.
