Are rivers in the development roadmap?
« on: March 06, 2001, 01:01:00 PM »
One feature I kinda miss from most every other sim I've flown is rivers.

Are there issues preventing them from being implimented?  If so, are these things that can be overcome?

Depends on how HTC does the shoreline tiles as far as making them usuable.

But presently rivers can already be put in...or roads, or railroad tracks, etc etc albeit nothing beyond different tile.

PT Boat rivers, with bridges for vehicles (bombable with rebuild time, of course!)

How about some Roads so we can have bridges over the rivers

A wide river would be easy enough already.  Its just water.  We have water.  Make long, long canyon full of water using the terrain editor.

The Bridges would be the thing HTC needs to add, but with vehicles having the ability to teleport towards the enemy base to speed up gameplay there really isn't a need unless they appear on the wrong side of a river thats close to a base.

The water has to be drawn in the individual textures.  Its not like you can define zero altitude as being water... is it?  It seems that this was the problem with the shore lines in general.  It took HTC quite some time to impliment them.

Granted.. once rivers are in place, bridges would be next  Functional bridges that would do things like support a tank, or block spawning in a certain direction if destroyed.

I'm sure HTC is waiting to finish 1.06 before deciding what they are going to do next.  "Wew.. 1.06 is done.. what do we do now HT?"

Trains...Trains...Trains.
Trains taking bridges over Rivers.
Trains pulling Flak cars along with flatbeds hauling Panzers for the Western Front

Have I mentioned I would like Trains Yet?

I think that a decent perk vehicle would be mobile V1 and V2 launchers. Would be quite the challenge to stop. Alot like RL WW II
