Intel graphics just don't do well in gaming.

I've got an older system by today's standards that still runs the game well by my standards.

that right there is your problem...either buy a real video card or dummy down the graphics.

If the game detects a large enough lag in connectivity or packet transfer (can't remember which), it will disable advanced graphics in an attempt to free up resources on your computer so it can stabilize the session. Most people who get this tend to get it when first firing up the game and connecting to an online arena.

There are a couple of issues with this computer.

First, understand the game only cuts back on graphics when it can no longer sustain a playable level.  That should be the first warning you are asking more of your computer than it can deliver.

The Intel video chip is a $2 video chip.  It was never intended to be used for games.  It happens to work with Aces High because we recognize it to be a huge part of the overall computer marketplace (over 65%).  So HiTech has made certain it would work.

However, it will never work well with all the graphic options enabled.  As to what degree is almost impossible to calculate due to how the Intel video chips can be impacted by everything running/installed on any given computer.

So, first off, you need to turn off all the advanced graphics.  In Options->Graphic Detail->Advanced, you can get away with checking the "Detailed Water" option, but you should not check anything else.

In the games "Video Settings", make sure the texture size is set to 256, maybe 512, but no higher.

Now, on to another issue.  Your computer is NOT using the native sound card drivers.  It is using the default Microsoft supplied sound driver, which works okay with Windows, but not with DirectX games under DirectSound.  You need to install the native sound drivers.  They will actually help improve computer stability and run better than the Microsoft supplied driver.

Next.  Your CPU is only a 2.3Ghz CPU.  That is going to handicap your performance as well.  It does not matter how many cores you have, the speed of the core running the game is a bit slow.  This is also going to impact the video chip as it has no video RAM, it must use system RAM.  So it is sharing it with the CPU.  Whenever either CPU or video chip need access to RAM, the other one has to wait.

The slower CPU takes longer to fetch/write, so it delays the video chip longer, which is a slow part, so it delays the CPU longer, and thus the certain spiral of death to your computer performance can be realized.
