A very brave raid. It was later found that the Nazies were no where near building the bomb and the war would have ended anyway without them building it. Of course, in 1942 nobody knew how long the war would last and exactly how far they were from building a bomb, so every delay was deemed important.
This reminds us of todays Iran that suffers a series of sabotages to its nuclear program in an effort to delay it. The difference is that there are no ground forces on the way to Tehran that need more time to get there before the bomb is complete. The current actions just delay the inevitable.
