content development
« on: April 28, 2013, 09:53:04 AM »
With all the talk lately about what the game should or shouldn't be, I began wondering again how players might help improve the game. Coad security was a suggested risk, but I don't recall if a non-intrusive surrogate program was ever discussed.

Is there a way that a dev program can be made or already exists that allows players to help with creating more content or other game features that doesn't compromise sensitive information and only worked after a review and say, decrypted? or translated into the proper coad by Htc?

Well, maps are a common request and players can create maps.  For the MA that have to use HTC base models though.

I know about the map editor, I was thinking more of helping with development of aircraft or vehicles. I realize Ht would have final say. With all the aircraft that folks want to see, it seems they have little time for other game changes.

Perhaps if Ht would allow player development of aircraft he approves, the staff can fulfill other plans.

I seem to recall HiTech asking if anyone had any experience in doing character type animations and also recall him posting as to why they don't allow players to create plane models.

Hint on what the post was called?

The request sounds as if they were only willing to bring a very limited amount of help into the fray which wouldn't provide the full potential of productivity. I know they want to protect their content, just wondering if there's a way to allow anyone and everyone to assist and still keep their security.

I can beat that.  I make tremendously awesome paper ball wads to be used for anti-aircraft artillery in the 105 mm range.

No hint, but you can do a search for "Blender" and "rigging"  and probably find it.

The idea is more complicated than it sounds. To do it right, or professionally, you will have to be able to:

1) Compile a list of combat poses according to HTC quidelines as well as details about mesh/quads/tris/polys/skin requirements
2) Motion capture (critical step) of combat poses in action
3) Utilize Mudbox (or similar) to create unique WWII characters
4) Model realistic uniforms and weapons from WWII to scale
5) Pin models and uniforms to characters and characters to rigging
6) Utilize FMX data from MOCAP to pin 3D character to

I'm still at least seven months out from a start point.
If you like the Sick Puppy Custom Sound Pack the please consider contributing for future updates by sending a months dues to Hitech Creations for account "Chalenge." Every little bit helps.
