venereal diseases are free.  Would you like one of them, as well?   :devil

That is strange, I've always paid for my venereal diseases.

I use and love Tapatalk as well.  It's a fantastic app.  I was without internet on the puter the last two years and only had it on my phone.  So I was off the forums that time as well.  If I'd have been able to get this forum on Tapatalk, I wouldn't have left as completely as I did.

It's great to be back, too, here and in game.

Yaknow Pand a couple of months ago I'd agree with this 100%. I don't know what it was--either my update to Jelly Bean or whatever they did to fix the forums but now I can post here with my Razr and it's not a ginormous PITA forming a post like it was prior to mid-March. Don't see where it'd hurt tho.

We fixed it ourselves.  SMF used to detect mobile devices and then would go into basic operation mode.  Since phones have gotten faster, it is an irrelevant option, so we coded around it.

It sounds like you've removed the basic operation from Smf, but that doesn't mean you can't install the tapatalk plug in for a better interface where applicable... Please correct me if I am interpreting this wrong but this sounds like a no?

Thanks :salute

I do not see us adding third party support for something that is used to track what people do on the Internet.

Have you tried tapatalk on your phone?

I would never do so, even if I had a phone that could run it.  I do not care how many whiz bang features a piece of software has. If it is used to track what I do, then it will never be allowed on any of my personal equipment.

Agree! How does it track what I do? Should I remove it?

I'm not very familiar with tapatalk, but it is a free download and with most free programs, you might want to question what is actually in it for the developer that made it.  I'm not saying be paranoid, but question it.

Heres a fun cartoon from xkcd that applies.

EDIT: OOPS forgot about language....

...Here is a link to it instead. (contains a naughty word)

Edit #2 :  I'm doing great today...  :uhoh  It is not a free program but under app permissions (for android) it has an awful lot of permissions it certainly does not seem to need to run.

Retailers and merchants have been doing this for some time now its called tracking cookies - while it takes NO information off your computer, it does track what websites you visit - for retailers its a marketing ploy to understand its demograph.
A Judge in Alabama ruled it was legal - one reason being they took NO information off your computer of personal nature, they only collect data on what websites you visit - Its basically a cheaper way for advertisers to find out what interest a demograph and sell them stuff.

Its an invasion of privacy, which lead to liability issues.

look at the permissions on your phone.  most apps will track your calls, location and websites you use.

If you read the user license, for the application, it clearly states they do gather information from your phone.  It is pretty vague in the wording, and they state that none of the information they gather could be used to identify you, but that is still incredibly vague.  They do not define exactly what they are collecting from your phone.

This goes far beyond "tracking cookies".
