A year away from the game... thoughts on return.
« on: May 18, 2013, 07:13:01 AM »
Well, nothing has changed in the last year and that is good. All of the graphics, airplane, achievements, et al, are transparent to me. The dynamics of play are the same. I really like the fact that is you hit the strats you can affect the rest of the game.

At any rate, all is good. Now if Shawk could just trim his hair....

Good seeing you up today, Dirtdart.

Another nice aspect they recently turned on again is wind.  It starts taking effect over 10K.   I find it to be a really nice touch to the game experience.

I took a year off, and it was funny Pand explained so much changed - funny though besides the strat changes and few planes added, nothing in gameplay changed.

Same game just a year later.

Heh, took a 2-3 month break, came back and first sortie I run into a 109 who makes one HO pass and dives to ack.  Still, once in a while, there's a good furball that makes the game fun again.

the game is concentrated on combat, not on shaking the screen.

[disclaimer: this isn't directed at anyone is specific]

Which is sad that people think of it that way.  There are so many different things to do in AH if people take the time to look beyond the gv camping/circle jerking, the base take hordes, the winning the mapz!, the "name in lights" kills, etc, etc.

Ever run the rat race in trying to keep ords down on a field that is constantly being resupplied? Ever run a Mossi mission with the sole purpose of dropping all 4 bombs in 1 pass then RTB'ing? Ever try and do the Soviet swarm with T34/76's against a defended base (w sole purpose being to break the concrete huggers)?  Ever use 109's for ground pounding missions (just keep the dive more shallow  ;) )?  How about a I-16 fighter sweep?  B25 strat raid (w/ escort)?  Etc etc.  There are so many different kinds of missions, raids, patrols, etc, that a player or squad can do that I simply shake my head when I see a player limiting themselves.

The older I get the more I retract to what King said in the movie Platoon: "Its simple, ya free yo mind and yo axx will follow".   :)  If people stop thinking that others have to create their enjoyment of AH then the experience will be a much better one.   ;)
