I still love to see it. Love to watch those F4U's in the air. I watched when it first came out. Read Boyingtons book. It wont sower your watching the F4U's on the show but it will show you just how badly the truth got warped.

I've seen it a few times; the show that is. I like seeing the F4U in flight, along with those cut-scenes where actual WW2 footage is put in. But like Jimdandy said, there's problems. To quote a surviving member of VMF-214:

What you see in the TV Show isn't the truth. They made it look like we got drunk all the time, picked fights with each other for fun, and scored some nooky twice a night! I only saw women twice during my 2 year stay with Boyington; once in a field hostipal visit and once when they flew some staff officers through. Hell the only thing they got RIGHT was the fact we flew Corsairs!

I like the commentary by Conrad about the things Boyington use to say to him on the set.
"Conrad I wish you would have been there in my squadron.
It would have been an honor to fly with you sir.
No not to fly, just so I could kick your bellybutton for being so cocky".

Anything on televison or at the movies that doesn't ring true to me, such as aircraft etc. I have disdain for.  For instance, couple days ago watched a movie with James Cagney in it, and I believe Alan Hale Sr.  Anyway they were flying a Hudson Bomber, being attacked by so called 109s that were hurricanes painted with German markings! ASAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRGGGG GGHHHHHH  Sickening!

I think during the Cagney days it was a little hard to get your hands on some real 109's.
