how and why?  

Our local newspaper told that the mother had not told anybody about her pregnancy, was desperate and depressed, somehow the baby just slipped while she was sitting on the toilet. According to the mother, that is. The news didn't tell whether the mom gave birth sitting on the toilet bowl or was just sitting there wondering what to do. Anyway, that is not just a far away chinese thing. Also in the western world there are "baby boxes" to abandon a baby in a "human" way instead of just dumping into the nearest trash can.

yeah I have heard that kids can be dropped at a fire department.  We had a baby a while back get dumped in a dumpster.  just sickening
