Much of the oxygen carried in aircraft was to actuate systems from what I can tell.

Always wondered why with so many oxygen bottles for systems in our fighters and so many API rounds punching through the bottle storage areas, we don't see more aggregate system failures side lining us from fights?

Though the manner in which some fighters rear half breaks off is about where the oxygen bottles are stored. Just like with the A8 the outer wing breaks off about where the HE ammo is stored.

Go ahead and add the oxygen systems. Jugs carry an emergency oxygen supply anyway.  :neener:

whenever I have a 'white out' in my cockpit I just reach for the kleenex
Did you see my dad on dogfights yet?
I'll be seeing you face to face possibly next month.

the actual wish is:

"I PINGED HIS OXY HE HAD TO DIVE DOWN!!!! I WON!"

the reality will be:

"U ONLY PINGED MY O2 YOU STILL STINK . DA AGAIN?"

"I FLY BUFFS, HTC DOESN'T KNOW HOW O2 SYSTEMS WORKED."

"I FLY FIGHTERS, HTC DOESN'T KNOW HOW O2 SYSTEMS WORKED."

"PILOT WOUNDS ONE PING, NOW O2 DEAD 1 PING. IM LEAVING!"

etc. etc. etc.

I dunno. This translation appears to be some sort of emotional transference.

Having said both that .... and that, you no more likely know the motivation
and eventual result than I do. However, aside from this thread's op motivation
(which is really a beside the point/non-factor to me), I highly doubt the systems
that can currently be disabled required accurate schematics of landing gear, flaps,
oil systems or anything of the like and were merely given hit areas and a randomizer
engine.

When it comes to whiners giving 'reasonable cause' to quit the game, hell,
whose to say they aren't just having a rationalized hissy fit due to their own
hidden motivations, being either they pretty much always sucked at the game,
their parents, spouse or whatever passes for their sugar-daddy/momma won't
pay for the game anymore, etc.

But thanks for projection venting, anyhow.  :D

I don't care actually, I don't fly enough for it to matter to me.

Hence the 'actual wish/reality' post?  ;)

seriously. I don't fly enough to care. I've probably spent 4 hours in planes in the last 2 months.. 90+% of my time is in 37mm field guns.

i'm just pointing out the obvious

If your 'obvious', born of little to no flight and less care, is that players
will whine no matter what ... well yeah, Capt. Obvious.  :D

Common, haven't you guys noticed in some of the ww2 guncam footage, sudden outgassing streams or puffs when german fighters get hit in the fuselage? After that I would like to think the subsequent inability for the pilot to perform Aces High specific wobbling around and negative G nose pushes out of plane are due to no pressurized O2 to actuate things. In many cases the pilot seems to only be able to hold the fighter sort of steady while the allied 50 cal API rounds finish the job.

You guys should go back and watch as many ww2 guncam films as you can looking for the signs of ruptured oxygen bottles. It's not hard to search the Internet for diagrams of the locations in just about every fighter from the war.

The only instance of pneumatic actuation, when it comes to fighters, that I've read about
(and granted, I've yet to read everything and I'm pretty sure that's not possible) is landing
gear 'blow down.' I'm of the opinion  that most systems were either mechanical or hydraulic
in nature. Most gun camera footage I've seen online is slo-mo and there really isn't time to
do much in them but take the burst, lose pieces and either bail or blow up.

That's not saying the out-gassing isn't O2.

even if you d-presurize the cockpit there will be still backup oxygen tanks.
