Street Outlaws on Discovery
« on: June 13, 2013, 08:38:59 PM »
Did any of you cars guys happen to watch this show? A bunch very fast full race cars "street racing" on the streets of/around OKC.  A couple of things, judging by the large portable lights, and a couple of times in the distance I can could see flashing strobes as if a Police car is blocking the road off, which leads me to believe this is fake.  My other issue is, while I've done it in my younger days, it gives drag racers who are actually running their cars in a safe and legal manner on streets or at drag strips a bad name or misrepresentation of a racer.

Any thoughts?

If the show is classified as "reality" it is indeed fake and staged

Looked staged to me. I thought most of the guys looked and acted like idiots. Couldn't make it through the first thirty minutes of the show.

All those shows are staged crap now. They even manipulate the betters ones like Deadliest Catch and Storm Chasers. Which they up and canceled in favor of Moonshiners and Amish Mafia which are pure junk.

Agreed.  I almost enjoy the behind the scenes showings of deadliest catch more than the actual show.  Those camera operators are sometimes in more danger than the actual fishermen.  If that's not reality, I don't know what is.

The only "car shows" I feel worthwile are the ones where they actually do something.

I miss Jesse grinding and welding.

What's really bizarre is the big name shops like heffner and hennessey having not a single clue what they are doing at racing venues other than a simple drag strip and even then they are making amateur mistakes.

Reality shows will soon go the way of the Morton Downey show.......probably to replaced by something even more stupid.

The downward trend started the day they replaced "dogfights" with "ice road whiners".

The reason for this is because they are trying to make a show out of nothing and have to manufacture all action though "deadliest catch" surely doesn't require much, if any manipulation.

To see the future of humanity, complete with how dumb we are becoming.. watch the movie "idiocracy"  supposed to be a comedy, but seems more likely a documentary on the future!

years ago, i visited front street in philly to see if they were still racing there. i used to run there in the 80's into the early 90's. at that point, it was mostly street cars. i think it was 98 or 99 i went back there, and they were running full blown race cars. pretty farking stupid if ya ask me.
