Multiple monitors
« on: June 26, 2013, 01:26:33 PM »
Skuzzy & the gang!

I haven't played in ages and am itching to do so.

I did a search for multiple-monitor support and came up with hits from 2000.  Eek!

My PC has the requirements to play, it has two nVidia Quadro 1800s in it, which gives me 4 screens (What can I say, when working on robots, one is for Solid Worlds, one is for Rhino, one is for playing the BluRay du jour and the last is for web/email)  I'm running Windows 7 64 bit

Does Aces High see multiple monitors beyond the Triple Head / Matrox device?

Thanks!

Paul

you know those quadro 1800s are going to suck for gaming right? if your video card(s) will run triple monitors, ah has no problem running on triple monitors.

this is from the nvidia fx support...

and it looks like the fx1800s don't support sli...so you would not be able to get the same functionality as nvidia surround or amd eyefinity, without something like the triplehead 2 go device.

My single 7950 video card uses AMD's "Eyefinity" software gizmo to treat three ASUS VE258Q 1920 x 1080 screens as one, big 5760 x 1080 screen.

Hi

Well I am not looking for SLI support and I have two of the FX1800s in the machine (tweaked for CAD but plays most games well)

Like I said, the basics of my question is this...if Windows can see all the displays, will Aces High?  It didn't in the past and thought I would inquire.

The game should if you setup your displays as a single large display.  I've been running triple 27" Viewsonic's for several years now...most recently with dual GFX670s.  Not sure about the Quatros, however.
Going by "Hoplite" now. :)

Hey LePaul!  Long time no see!

The short answer:  Aces High will allow any resolution your video card supports.  So, if the video card says it will support 3840x1080 (two HD monitors), then the game will allow you to select it as a resolution.

For some reason the forum search sucks often pulling up very old archives.  Do a google on the subject adding aces high.  There has been a couple of threads I can think of in the last few months.

Ok, let me be a bit more clear...

I have two monitors each running 1440 x 900 (I think...pretty sure its higher....)...so I don't have them "spanned" into one.

So, that said, it sounds like Aces won't attach to individual monitors

LePaul, my first reply and Skuzzy's reply answers your question...

the answer is, with those video cards you have, 2 monitors will work, 3 will not. the information in that nvidia link i posted is specific about it.

get yourself a triplehead2go adaptor and connect 3 monitors to it, then connect it to the appropriate display port(s) on one card and you should be able to run 3 monitors off one card and get results you're wanting.

Correct.

By the way, the Quadro cards do not have very good DirectX support.  They do have excellent OpenGL support.
