The loadout determines the perk cost, and challenges.
« on: June 13, 2013, 01:07:14 PM »
This was originally a reply to the 163 topic in the General Forums. However, I decided it was more worthy of being here.

For perking bombers, instead of the bombers being priced it should be the bombs themselves, then have challenges that the player can select, based on what they choose increases their perks rewarded based on what they hit.

Greatest example would be B29s.  If you get the 100lbers, while they can do some damage, they aren't 'the best' loadout, so why are they the same price as the 40 500 lbers?

I think that if you get a b29 with 100lbers that it should be say... 35-50 perks (x3 if formation selected).   Then you do that for each individual loadout possible.

I think loadouts should only determine what the perk price of the plane as a whole, here is an example.

B29 with 40 500lbers is 80 perks, x3 if formation (240 perks).
B29 with 80 100 lbers is 35-50 perks, x3 if formation ( 105, 150 perks).

Now, as for planes that don't cost ANY perks to fly, I'll give a great example.

F4U-1D duo 250s, duo 500s, duo 1000s.

If you select 1000s you get less perks as a whole than if you select 500s as a whole

If you select 250s and kill something you get a perk bonus or multiplier

If you select bombs it auto selects this sortie as "attack sortie".

Then for bombers (and everything else.. evnetually  :devil)

Challenges.

Land 3 b29s successfully in one sortie  then either add a perk multiplier or reward to that challenge if completed successfully.

Land 5 kills in any plane without taking damage.

This would have a new "tab" perhaps achievements/challenges could share the same tab?  I don't know, just throwing out ideas, a new "spin" on the same ole same ole?

So then you select which 'category' of plane it would fit under.

Examples:

Bomber

Do 18000 damage in a bomber (other than a B29)

Take out 5 hangers at one airfield in one sortie.

Fighter

Kill 5 enemies while flying a plane

Attack

Kill 2 or more enemies while in a "gunship" (Gunship = a player who is using the bomber as a means to lure enemies to kill them, rather than to bomb a specific target).

Kill 3 or more enemy GVs in one sortie while in a bomber.

Take out 2 hangers while in a fighter

Take out a CV or Cruiser while in a fighter

Vehicle

Resupply 3 bases in 24 hours

Kill an M3 that has troops

Kill 5 wirbles in 24 hours

Kill 5 tanks in one sortie

List goes on and on..

Each category could also have a specific daily challenge, that would be like a 'fun mission'.  Examples below

Bomber

Kill a fighter with a bomb, or a jeep with a 4000 lb "Cookiee" bomb.

Fighter

Kill a A6M with a Me410

Attack

Kill 2 vehicles with 1 bomb

Kill a plane with less than 50 rounds (20mms + wouldn't count, so 20s, 30s, 37s or 40mms wouldn't count.)

Vehicle

Kill a plane with the Jeep's machine gun

I think these would work.  If you disagree, leave a reason as to why.

Just my thoughts.

Doesn't sound like a bad idea, I like the idea of approaching "canned" setups that allow you to experience highly perked equipment or atleast cut the cost of it down a little.

They may limit gameplay on the whole, but maybe there is a way to work them in for things like user created missions/etc?
