Fort Benning
« on: June 23, 2013, 01:24:01 PM »
Had the immense honor and pleasure of attending my Brigade reunion last week, with the current Command HQ of the 199th Infantry Brigade. Between HQ monument dedications, National Infantry Museum visit and base visits it was totally memorable. Even thought it was 45 years ago in 1968 since I served with them in Vietnam, the experience made it seem like yesterday.  From eating lunch in the messhall to listening to the Arty officer call out range settings to the mortar crews.

Memorial to the Redcatchers of 199th Light Infantry Brigade of Vietnam KIA's at 199th Infantry HQ
for an old fart like me after 45 years.  Hopefully I can post a few pic/videos to share.

My 16yr old granddaughter at the end of the video, I had to wipe the drooling off her chin as the Rangers walked by her walking off the DZ.  You know girls and uniforms  LOL.

And of course no visit would be complete without a visit to see the  venerable old Sherman

enjoy .. (redctchr)

Understandable, the visit is memorable.  Any Vet that lives in that area is missing an experience if they haven't been there.
