The Me410 is a little too tough, it can blatantly take .50's to the engine top sections without any visible damage (cntrl-d).
Nowhere in any picture, drawing I have seen or cross-sectioning in the handbook concerning the armouring; shows any amount of metal coating other then the basic engine covers.
