200 is a choice and channel that was chosen by the players and is not the default "all" channel and was created specifically for such things. Your solution of just turning it off is the obvious one. If there is anything you dont like going on on C200. Go back to the default.

If you dont like whats being shown on CBS. Do you stay tuned to it or change to another channel?

I havent found that a new thing. Alot of squads or people have always been that way. What I see much more of now are people who make one pass. (usually a HO) and if they miss, dive out and run to their ack and stay there only becoming aggressive again when either 4-5 of their buddies show up or you dare venture into ack range. Often they may start to give chase if you decide to fly away. But will just as often turn back around and run to the protection of field ack the moment you turn back on them again  without even attempting to merge

Yup. Fight til you can't.  :aok

the game is concentrated on combat, not on shaking the screen.

Yep that just about sums it up I remember there used to be a lot more furballers about and flying turn planes was cool now its cool to ho and run and gang it seems. I have turned back into a mass of enemies to save a friendly plenty of times and I will fight you in any plane I am in just because its fun. Why cant more people think like this?  :huh I think more things associated with scores and acheivements make players more timid especially the ones who actually care about that stuff.

I also think the huge amount of smack talking going on lately has a big influence on this too because no-one wants to get shot down by php and told that he owns you or any of the smacktalkers for that matter yeah I know smacktalking has been around for ever and there has always been a Midway/Php if we didn't have 200 the smacktalking would obviously reduce. I tune to 200 every blue moon but I wouldn't miss it at all if it was gone.

I think it is a frame of mind. Some of us who have been here forever have a better frame of mind when dealing with the game. We have done all the missions, base captures, win the wars, spawn camped, blow up depots with gvs, milk runs in buffs and so on. We see know that the only real lasting fun is the fight and the rest of it doesn't matter.

I don't have a problem with anyone shooting me down as long as they fought me. If they just HOed me, or picked me while I was fighting 3 others well then those days I may not bother flying much. As for the smack talk, squelch works fine. There are a number of fools who do nothing but try to get under peoples skins and I just don't bother to deal with them and squelch them as I see their name cross the buffer.

The problem tho is the new guys don't know these things. How many people does HTC lose a month to these smack talking idiots? How many people due to hordes popping newbies just trying to find a fight?  I know HTC has always been all for letting the masses do as they will....with in the few rules they do have. I think how ever they may want to take a look at those rules again. Times change and so do players. It may be time to tighten up the reigns a bit. They split the arenas because the main arena had become a cesspool. Maybe it's time to change a few things again to get a bit cleaner play.

And clean up the bulletin board too.  Too much mockery, bullying, and folks being jerks.  If I had a 15 year old child, I would not teach him AH.  10 years ago when my daughter was 10, I did let her play a bit.  She enjoyed the little she played.

I don't understand how our present climate on the boards and in the game can be good for HTC's future business growth.

Its because a select group have been allowed to bully, belittle players. They also think there above the majority of the players so that gives them the right to talk down to the players from their pedestals all from the security of their computers. One's already had his  :ahand to him i'm sure more will come.

I think there is still hope. When I fly(12 am Cali time)
there's usually a 8v8 battle going on and everyone plays fair(no ho's and ack runners)

AKAK and his pals will show up at 20k, so you have to adapt and also climb to 20k.
It only takes about 5-8 minutes to do so.

I remember when I got here that you were called a dweeb if you flew a spitfire, hurrican or a zero.  and it is still the same "get your training wheels off.." calls.  so I think a lot of people just said the hell with it and went to fly la7's, 190, ponies, and any p47 with unlimited ammo.  I have noticed that a lot more people will fly la7's than spitfires into furballs?  and when you look at their stats, they're just terrible.

and god forbid that you should shoot down an "expert" in a 1v1 then it turns into a 10 minute whining of why he lost and why you are a skill-less dweeb that couldnt fight your way out of a wet paper bag.

I humbly submit this:

1.  The flight model is accurate and the learning curve is steep.  Lots to manage: SA, flying, aerial gunnery, basic ACM, advanced ACM and it all takes real time, most of which, very few people have
2.  No one likes to lose.  So, easiest way to get a kill is bnz, pick, horde.  It just is.
3.  Skills obtained degrade quickly even though the game doesn't change much.  People that come back, often do the fast, no turny thing
4.  The culture has changed from top dog 1 v 1 to paying more attention to one's score.  Its migrated from a culture of skill to a skill of managing the new culture of instant gratification (the kill)
5.  Smack talking promotes skillessness.  "I don't have to be skillful to pick, vulch, altfairy, gang, horde but I got you just the same" which drives #2 to rinse, repeat with no adverse side-affects, lol

I don't know what is right.  I only know what I like and what I need to try to improve to be culturally the first part of #4.

Regards
