Wasn't sure where to put this thread so I'll post it here and it can be moved later.
I've only been with AH for about 4 years now ( going on 5)and I've been with the bbs for even less time so when I saw a comment in another thread making a reference about digging deep into the bbs for a quote it got me curious. I went to the very last page of the forums that I visit most (General discussion, O'club, Wishlist and Screen shots) and it was amazing how much the game has changed (and in some cases not changed) over the years. It had kind of an eerie feeling to it... like walking through an abandoned house.
In the general discussion it seemed to be about the same as it is now, people talking about better graphics settings and more maps etc.
In the wishlist I saw a few things being asked for that are still being asked for today. I was surprised to find that the P-61 was the first plane to be requested in the wishlist... and we still don't have it.

I'll take that as a sign that we are never getting it...

I also saw a thread where the M-18 and the Firefly were used as a sarcastic comment to a wish, oh the irony!

In the screen shots there's not much to say. The threads don't have images anymore for whatever reason. I'm assuming that it was a change in the format of the BBS because there are some things about the threads that are different compared to today in terms of the UI. I didn't really fell like skimming all the way back through the screen shots forum so I just left.

The O'club was an interesting one to visit... and a chilling one. I don't know exactly when it was opened but it was shortly before 9/11. Most of the posts on that last page seem to be 9/11 related, all of them made the hair on the back of my neck stand up.

I also saw some names that are familiar, many were not and most seemed to be long gone. Not really sure but it seems that HTC wasn't very involved with the early BBS, I couldn't find a single post from the admin in any of the threads I checked.
I just thought it was cool that the internet could be used as such a time capsule. Better than burring something in the back yard and coming back 20 years later... Thanks HTC for your increased involvement with the community over the years and the great job you've done with AH.
Now when are we getting the P-61?
