I dont forget that in the slightest. and whilst I understand the flippancy of Semps comment I simply meant that in 1939 the Brits were alone in France, which resulted in Dunkirk. Had the French been true to their word and actually decided to counterattack then there could very possibly been a different outcome.

Funny story, thanks.
Reminded me of one that happened about 15 years ago, in Boston I think. Young guy, early twenties tries to strongarm rob an old guy in an underground parking garage.
Turns out the "old guy" was on the American Olympic Wrestling Team in the early 50s.
Long story short, "the old guy" body slams young punk, lays him out, and and hands him over to the cops.

I still chuckle about that one.

Imagine going to jail and admitting to being stomped by someone 3 times+ your age.

I knew guy in England who owned a scrapyard. He had a contract with the police and told me they used to show up about every three months with a van load of illegal firearms and into the breaking wheels they went, Lugers, Webley revolvers, Sten guns, all kinds of modern automatic pistols even a Colt 45 revolver one day.
