Addendum to the .join command
« on: August 07, 2013, 07:37:59 PM »
I'd like to see a 2nd command added that could be used in the TA or custom arenas that would allow the pilot and a "joined" player to switch positions.  The observer would become the pilot and the pilot would become the observer.  Initial thoughts were the plane would go on level auto pilot, the players switch then the new pilot would be at the controls.

Idea being that you could be in the TA helping a new player, join on him/her watch them do some merges or whatever you're working on then "switch" in flight and right away show them what you're talking about w/out have to re-plane and have them join on you.

Make it an arena variable that could be enabled/disabled depending on the arena in question.

This is somewhat possible with staged missions... Once you have a mission going, you can un-assign people and put another person in at will into the same flight slot... I did that to Raynos32 in CrabbyLand, except I simply took over his plane just cause I could LOL....
The boiling pot is put away and the crab has gone back to sea...

 Soulyss,

I like this idea but the way you join presently would need to change!  At present you join a plane but don't see the actual cockpit, you see your old cockpit, fuel state, ammo ect. and you cant see any control changes like you would if you were in your own plane.

For these reasons I rarely have a player join me,I'd rather they follow and talk them through it or follow them to watch them do whatever I'm trying to show them.

If this can be worked out then I'd really like to see this implemented,it would help new players greatly!
