thats the 4.6 that has 2 different engines. windsor and romeo
The only two major differences between the two are a 6 or 8 bolt flywheel and with or without an oil cooler.

As for the 5.4L, most are Engine ID specific (prod. date).  Cap was thinking of the 1999's, when there were three different 5.4's.   The only difference in the the 5.4's are that one was supercharged in the Lightning and does not apply to thread...........

Dunno.   IIRC the Compass only gets a 3 star rating in Frontals, which is not that good.    The upside is they should have the 6 speed in the Latitude.

Well then I'll tell Sue to only ram people with the rear of the car.

Who, at our age, looks at crash reports before buying a car?  Your family is young so you should.  Nobody would care if my old bellybutton died since they are able to take care of themselves.

personally, i don't look at things like crash reports. i look at performance numbers, and whether or not i like it.

what good is a shoebox that has the highest safety ratings in every catagory, if i can't stand to drive the pos?

If you're quick and can change plugs when the engine is hot, the holes are "larger" because aluminum expands at a higher rate than the steel spark plugs.

This makes the holes slightly larger than when the engine is not fully warmed to 190 degrees.

If they turn initially and start to get tight, spray some penetrant/lubricant down the hole and call the customer to explain the car will take another day.

Then you carefully unscrew them with a swivel spark plug socket to reduce any side loading which will cause them to bind further.

Of course, you can't get the engine hot the next day but the penetrant should make things easier.

While getting the block hot may pose a problem, have you tried freezing the spark plug? A few seconds of canned deep freeze directly on the sparky will make a large temperature difference.

By the way Mercedes diesel injectors have similar problems, sometimes they just don't want to leave the head. There are 4 to 8 of them depending on engine model, costing around 800 bucks a pop + removal and machining of head 1500ish or replacement for even more.

I still don't think MB is a bad car.
